Hotels near the Opera Garnier Paris are about as central as it gets. Using an American phrase this is 'downtown' Paris.
The area of Paris located around the Opera Garnier is famous for its cabarets and nightlife. There are numerous theatres and department stores in this area of the city.
When in Paris you will be bombarded with adverts, money off coupons etc for the main large department stores Galeries Lafayette and Printemps found here.
About 1km south of the Opera Garnier is the Louvre, the famous department stores are just north of the Opera Garnier. Along this 'golden corridor' hotel accommodation tends to be of the expensive type.
What to expect from the Opera hotel area of Paris?
Transport
The Roissy Bus, the frequent airport bus to Paris Charles De Gaulle has its city centre terminus in a street adjacent to the Opera Garnier.
Here there are some of the most expensive and luxurious hotels in Paris, even a mid-range Best Western hotel is much more expensive than a virtually identical Best Western a few metro stops away.
Going northeast from the Opera Garnier is Rue La Fayette a long straight boulevard that heads towards Gare du Nord. Line 7 of the Paris Metro follows the road as well as a constant procession of local buses.
Hotels
Immediately beyond the department stores is Saint Lazare Station, a major public transport hub. Around here there is sea change in hotel prices with prices dropping dramatically.
Room rates again decrease significantly as you go along Rue La Fayette and there is a host of relatively good value budget and mid-range accommodation, some of which are on our Grands Boulevards hotels page.
