Ibis hotels in Paris are part of the Accor group a French group that have many chains targeted at different segments if the hotel market.
Ibis is a value for money budget chain, but Accor have two additional chains Formule 1 and ETAP that are more basic and cheaper. Formule 1 is the cheapest, rooms are not fully en suite and are located on peripheral locations in Paris around the inner ring road. ETAP is found in similar locations but is slightly less basic, rooms are en suite.

The Ibis Proposition
The Ibis hotels are the next step up from ETAP in the Accor portfolio. Ibis rooms are the familiar box layout of most chain hotels, perhaps smaller than a more upmarket chain. All that is really lacking is the services like room service, swimming pools and exercise equipment.
Nearly all are in large modern blocks, sometimes sharing the building with another Accor hotel of another chain. Breakfast is available if you need it and there is invariably a bar that serves snacks, some will have a cafe.
Ibis is very common throughout the Paris region, the only place you won't find one in Paris is the very centre next door to the Louvre, Champs Elysees or Latin Quarter.

The most central Ibis hotels (Ibis Opera Le Peletier and Ibis Hotel Grands Boulevards Opera) are half way between the Opera and Gare du Nord close to the famous Folies Bergere.
The two Ibis hotels at Porte de Clichy are very large and room rates tend to be lower than other Ibis hotels within the inner orbital road and visitors are especially attracted to these.
If you are visiting Paris at the weekend the Ibis at La Defense has very attractive rates as La Defense is a business district. However its also a major shopping centre and the fast Line 1 of the Paris metro is only a few minutes walk from the hotel.
On-line there are often promotions at Ibis and discounts can be very deep with advance purchase rates.
