Hotels in La Defence district in Paris form a very distinctive choice for visitors to Paris looking for accommodation.
La Defense itself is a business district, way to the west of the city centre of Paris. At first site, for the average visitor it doesn't look an obvious option to look for accommodation.
However, La Defense is connected to the centre of Paris by the fast Metro Line 1 that goes direct to the Louvre and Notre Dame in about 15-20 minutes and the even faster RER Line A trains take you direct to the shopping districts, Arc de Triomphe and beyond even as far as Disneyland.
As well as being a major transport hub, La Defense is also a major shopping centre. the 4 Temps shopping centre above the railway station is the largest in the Paris area. The shopping mall has a good range of restaurants and a huge supermarket too.
As a business district, hotels are not that cheap during the working week. At weekends and the French holiday month of August all the workers disappear and all the hotels deep discount in an effort to fill some of those beds.

It is at weekends and the August holiday period that the area really becomes attractive to the leisure traveler to Paris. Room rates often deep discounted bargains, you may be tempted to even trade up to a 4 or 5 star hotel so good is the relative value that may be on offer at this time.
Nearly all the accommodation options close to the two metro station are large global chains.
