Cheap hotels in Paris Centre are mostly found in a belt 1-3 kms outside the very centre. A benchmark district for cheap hotels in Paris centre is the Montmartre district, just to the north of the Opera area around which the central shopping and business districts are situated.

Montmartre includes the infamous Pigalle area home of the Moulin Rouge. Montmartre is quite a pleasant area to stay in on its own merit both during the day and at night.		 Cheap Hotels in Paris Centre
As ever in large cities, cheap accommodation is also found around the major rail stations - the Gare Du Nord area is no exception, though its not a district to loiter.
There are also some chaep accommodations behind St Lazare station, in the very heart of the city - we cove these in our Paris city centre page.

Just to the east of the centre, good budget accommodation is found around the Marais/Bastille and Republique areas.

The Latin Quarter on the left bank, contrary to some perceptions is not a notable place for budget accommodation.

Further west, hotels near the Eiffel Tower tend to be much more reasonable.
