| Luxury 4/5 Star Hotels | A great variety of luxury hotels are available, choice is almost overwhelming. Choice ranges from small boutique hotels to the large global hotel chains. There are few modern, purpose built hotels in the centre. |
| Apartments | A good range of studio, one and two bedroom apartments are available for short-term letting of a day or more. Spread thinly across Paris . All are fully furnished, most with luxuries as standard. |
| Aparthotels | Paris has two large global aparthotel chains, Citadines and Adagio, both French. In their home city there is plenty of choice of modern, value for money apartments with some hotel services. |

| The Louvre | Centred on arrondissement 1, the Louvre itself is of course the major landmark. One of the most expensive areas to stay in Paris, though there still are 2 star simple hotels available. |
| Opera & Madeleine | Area noted for its cabarets, nightlife and the main department stores of Paris. Its also where you find some of the most exclusive hotels. Very central district with most of the major attractions in walking distance. |
| Champs Elysees | For the privilege of staying along or very close to the Champs Elysees you pay a hefty premium. Prices come down fast as you go north west past the Arc de Triomphe with mid-range options worthy of consideration. |
| Grands Boulevards | The attraction of the Grands Boulevards area for visitors is that it is very central, yet hotel prices are definitely a big step down from the options just a short distance away around the Louvre and Opera Garnier. |
| Latin Quarter | Very popular place to stay for visitors covering a large area with great variety. Area includes St Germain, Luxembourg Gardens, Pantheon, Botanical Gardens and Rue Mouffetard, famous for its street market. |
| Eiffel Tower | Hotels near the Eiffel Tower are spread over a wide area. No hotel is literally on the doorstep of the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower itself is not in the centre of Paris. |

| Gare De Lyon | A good choice between local independent hotels and global chains all competitively priced. Just to the south of Gare de Lyon is the Bercy district a redeveloped area with cheaper modern chain hotels prevalent. |
| Montparnasse | Dominated by the Montparnasse Tower with the railway station underneath. For 'value seekers looking for sensibly priced hotels Montparnasse has its attractions. Convenient for Orly Airport. |
| Montmartre | Major budget hotel accommodation district and home to a large proportion of the backpacker hostels in Paris. There are smart hotels but when it comes down to it, its price that brings most to Montmartre. |
| La Defense | Business district to the west of Paris centre. The big attraction is very. very attractive prices on quite decent hotels at weekends and holidays (August) when the businessmen are away. |
| Hotels For Motorists | Parking is almost an art form in the centre of Rome, no place for a visitor not used to the tight spaces and double parking. The sensible solution is to find a hotel with parking and use public transport to get get around the city. |

| All Seasons | All Seasons are a mid-range value chain owned by the French Accor group. Breakfast is included in the room rate which are very competitive for the sector. Mostly located outside the very centre of Paris. |
| Best Western | In terms of numbers, the Best Western franchise is the best represented of the global chains with hotels in most Paris districts of 3 and 4 star category. Often there are several Best Western hotels in the same locality. |
| Campanile | Large French budget chain offering cheap hotel options away from the very centre of Paris. A choice of half a dozen locations all close to a convenient Metro station and a short ride to the city centre and the main sights. |
| Citadines | Citadines aparthotels in Paris are spread across the city including some very central aparthotels close by the Louvre and the Opera around which are many of the main department stores. |
| Comfort Hotels | Comfort hotels are part of the global Choice Hotels group with other chains like Quality Hotels and Clarion in their portfolio. Most Comfort hotels in Paris are small simple two or three star budget hotels in 'character' buildings. |
| ETAP | ETAP is a cheap no frills chain with some of the lowest prices. ETAP hotels are found in Paris mostly around the inner orbital road close to Metro stations. ETAP often share buildings with another brand of the Accor group. |
| Formule 1 | Probably the cheapest chain hotel. Very similar locations to its fellow Accor brand, ETAP. Main reason for the low cost apart from the secondary locations are that rooms are not en suite. |
| Holiday Inn | A good choice of 3 star Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express hotels are spread around Paris, though not in the very centre of Paris. Most are in the inner suburbs only 10 minutes by Metro from the Louvre etc. |
| Marriott Hotels | The Marriott presence in Paris is currently fragmented with very expensive Renaissance hotels in some prime locations and Marriott properties much further out that are not always that close to a Metro. |
| Mercure Hotels | One of the many Accor brands with a sizable presence with mid/upper range properties throughout Paris. Tends to be for a chain in quite small hotels in character buildings. |
| Novotel | Another Accor brand that covers a similar market to Mercure. Novotel hotels tend to be modern, large blocks though whilst Mercure tend to be in smaller character buildings. |
| Timhotel | Paris regional chain offering traditional budget small/medium size hotels in the 2 or 3 star category. Timhotel are spread throughout Paris with some locations that are very central around the Louvre for example. |
| Pullman Hotels | Luxury 4 star brand owned by Accor. Tend to be in the business districts, though some are of interest to leisure travelers and invariably are large modern hotel purpose built blocks. |
| Sofitel | The top luxury brand of the Accor group. The Paris portfolio includes some of the finest hotels in Paris in some of the most sought after locations. Lot of frills and services that of course come with a hefty price tag. |
