Many of the familiar global hotel chains are present in Paris, but they do not have the dominance or market share than in many other destinations.
The vast majority of budget hotels in Paris are independent.
Very few hotels are purpose built, modern buildings, those that there are are mostly found a little away from the centre of the city.
Best Western and the French Accor group with their portfolio of mid-range brands Mercure, All Seasons and Novotel have the largest presence of the chains in this sector. We have dedicated pages for these brands most popular hotels. These pages are linked from the menu left.
As ever, location makes a major difference to the price you pay. Paris has an excellent public transport system and you can save a lot of money for just the small inconvenience of a 10 minute Metro ride. Good budget accommodation at more sensible prices is available around the major train stations, Gare Du Nord, Gare de Lyon and Momtparnasse. The Grand Boulevards area also offers good value and is close to very centre of Paris,

If you prefer a purpose built modern hotel then a good place to look is at the recently redeveloped districts of Bercy (just south of Gare de Lyon) and La Defense. Unlike the rest of Paris the chain hotels dominate here. La Defense in particular is very biased towards the business visitor, room rates are very cheap at weekends and holidays but quite the reverse during the working week.
