This area consists of the western half of arrondissement 9 and the extreme eastern edge of arrondissement 8 where St Lazare Station is sited.

Much of this district is inner city residential. Through this residential area a few bus routes run from the Montmartre / Clichy area down into the city centre, supplemented by Metro lines 12 and 13.
The transport hub of the district is St Lazare Station.

Trains From St Lazare

In numbers the vast majority of train departures are suburban commuter lines west and north west of Paris.
There are some inter city services to the north west of France to places like Rouen, Le Havre, Dieppe and Cherbourg.

Paris Metro
For most people the Paris Metro is the transport of choice travelling around Paris. Details of ticketing, lines etc. are on our Paris Metro page.

Lines 12 & 13 snake through the residential districts coming together at St Lazare, the main transport hub for the area.

Around St Lazare are a number of Metro stations all in close proximity, all serving different lines. If you're staying in this area you'll see a lot of St Lazare.

Local Bus

Although not as fast as the Metro, bus allows you to see more and there are plenty of bus lanes in Paris to expedite your journey. There are some bus routes that run north - south from the Montmartre, Clichy area through the residential area to the St Lazare and Opera areas. St Lazare itself is a major bus terminus with routes radiating out to most parts of Paris a visitor wants to go.
The number 26 bus is a high frequency bus between Gare du Nord (connections for airports and Eurostar) and St Lazare, an awkward route by Metro.

Airport Transfers
From Opera, close to St Lazare is an airport bus to CDG airport.
Roissy Bus - Opéra to Airport
A direct bus from the heart of the city to Charles De Gaulle, operated by RATP who run the public buses, RER and Metro. As a result you can use the various Paris travel passes as long as they are valid for zones 1-5.

The bus starts in front of the American Express building just west of the Opera Garnier and at the airport from Terminals 1 & 2 where it is well signposted.
Journey time is scheduled at 45 to 60 minutes. During the weekday rush hours the motorway out to the airport can resemble a parking lot and journeys of up to two hours have been known.
Frequency :
15 minutes between 6 a.m. - 7 p.m. and 20 minutes between 7 p.m. - 11 p.m.

Fare
: 8.90 Euro
(You can use all RATP travel passes on the Roissy Bus, including the Paris Visite Card, as long as they are valid for zones 1-5)

Airport Transfers by RER Train

The RER is run by RATP, who also run the Metro and city centre buses.

As a result train, metro and bus are tightly integrated, sharing ticketing systems. If you are travelling within central Paris you can use a single ticket which is also valid for Metro and buses.

RER Service To Orly Airport
The tedious aspect of the RER link to Orly is that you have to change just short of the airport for a 10 minute ride on a shuttle train called Orlyval. The same line as the CDG train, RER Line B is used - only in the opposite direction.
