Saint Germain is an area in the 6th arrondissement on the left bank (south side) of the Seine. Along the eastern border from Notre Dame is the Boulevard St Michel. Running underneath the Boulevard St Michel is the RER service B train. There are several RER stations including St Michel and Luxembourg. The RER goes direct to CDG airport and also runs to Orly via a branch link.

The main artery of St Germain is the Boulevard Saint Germain, cutting west east through the heart of the district. Metro Line 4 runs along the Boulevard Saint Germain before veering off to St Michel and under the river to Chatelet, a major public transport hub on the other side of the river.
